Comparing the Nexus 6 and Nexus 6P

The Nexus 6 is a smartphone developed by Motorola Mobility, released in 2014. The Nexus 6P is a newer version of the same device developed by Huawei for Google, released in 2015.

Both devices run on the Android operating system, however the 6P runs on the Marshmallow version while the 6 runs on the Lollipop version. They also both feature a 5.7-inch AMOLED display with Gorilla Glass 3 protection. Both devices are made from aluminium and have a non-removable battery.

When it comes to hardware, there are a few differences between the two devices. The Nexus 6 has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 processor while the 6P has a more powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor. In addition, the 6P has a 12-megapixel rear camera as opposed to the 13-megapixel rear camera on the 6.

In terms of battery life, the Nexus 6 has a 3220 mAh Li-Po battery, which is smaller than the 3450 mAh Li-Po battery in the 6P. This means that the 6P will last longer on a single charge. However, the 6 does have Turbo Charging capabilities which allow users to get 7 hours of usage after charging for just 15 minutes.

The Nexus 6 and 6P have similar features when it comes to audio, such as front facing stereo speakers and dual microphones for noise cancellation. Both devices also come with the latest version of Google’s voice search app, which allows users to search without typing.

Display and Design

The display size on both models is the same at 5.7 inches, but the 6P has a slightly better resolution at 2560×1440 compared to the 2560×1440 found on the 6. This gives the 6P an advantage when it comes to playing high-definition video, as it has a higher pixel density.

When it comes to design, both models look nearly identical, with the only difference being the 6P’s laser autofocus sensor which is located near the top of the phone.

Software and Features

As mentioned earlier, the 6P runs on the Marshmallow version of Android while the 6 runs on the Lollipop version. The Marshmallow version of Android offers improved performance, bug fixes and new features, including Doze – which helps conserve battery power when the device is idle.

Both devices come preloaded with several useful apps such as Google Drive, Google Photos, Gmail, Hangouts and YouTube. They also both come with unlimited storage on Google Drive and access to Google Play Music.

The 6P is the first Nexus device to include a fingerprint scanner. This allows users to unlock their device with one touch and make secure payments using Android Pay. It also includes USB Type-C port, which is faster and more efficient than traditional Micro USB ports.

Price

The Nexus 6 was released at a price point of $649.99, while the 6P is available starting at $499.99. This makes the 6P a much better value for money, considering its superior hardware and features.

The Nexus 6 and 6P are both great devices, but the 6P offers a few extra features and better hardware than the 6. For those looking for a great value for money smartphone, the 6P is definitely worth considering.

The Nexus 6 and 6P are both excellent choices for anyone looking for a reliable and powerful Android device. While the 6P may be the better option overall, both devices offer a great user experience and provide access to all the latest applications and services.
