Earlier, it was revealed that the production of this compact SUV has begun at Tata’s Ranjangaon plant in Pune. And later, several reports surfaced online claim that the first lot of Nexon SUVs has already reached several dealerships across the country.

Tata Motors has officially started taking the bookings for their Nexon SUV for a token amount of Rs.11,000. And the deliveries are likely to begin by the end of this month, after a few days of the official Tata Nexon launch. The Tata Nexon is expected to be launched with five variant options; base XE, XM, XT, XZ and XZ+, which will be the feature loaded variant.

Tata Nexon – What it has to offer?

IMPACT Design Philosophy

Tata Nexon is definitely one of the best-looking cars made by Tata Motors till date. After a long wait, Tata has finally understood the need of revamping their design and styling strategy for their cars, which resulted in the birth of Tata’s IMPACT design philosophy. The same was implemented while designing Tata Tiago, Tigor and Hexa. And now, the Tata Nexon follows the same design strategy. And believe us, the results are just awesome.

Bold, Sporty & Attractive Exteriors

The Tata Nexon scores more than 100% marks when it comes to the exterior design and styling. Thanks to the IMPACT design philosophy, the Nexon sports a bold and futuristic design, which was never seen on any other Tata car in the past. Starting from its chrome finished ‘Humanity line’ front grille to the beautifully designed rear headlamps, the Tata Nexon is just amazing everywhere. Not to forget is the boldly designed projector headlamps, LED DRLs, 16-inch alloy wheels and perfectly blended rear spoiler.

Feature Loaded Interiors

Ever since the launch of Tata Tiago, Tata never looked back in terms of features and interior design. Rather, it improved with every new launch. The Tata Nexon is great on the interiors as well. It gets a spacious cabin with well-cushioned and comfortable seats. There is enough of headroom, legroom and knee room for the passengers.

And when it comes to the features, the Tata Nexon will blow your mind away. The long list of features on the Tata Nexon includes 6.5 inch dashboard touch-screen (segment-first), 8-speaker Harman’s music system, rear AC vents, automatic climate control, control switches on steering wheel, keyless entry, push start/stop button, cooled and illuminated glove box, leather cover on seats and a lot more.

A great infotainment system

The infotainment system on Tata Nexon supports integrated maps, Bluetooth, AUX, USB and Android Auto connectivity and later it would also support Apple CarPlay after an update.

Great on Safety

The list of safety features on the Tata Nexon includes reverse parking sensors & camera, ABS with EBD, dual front airbags, hill start assist, corner stability control, ISOFIX and many other essential safety features.

Refined Engines

Tata Nexon will be available with two engine options; petrol & diesel. The 1.2-litre Turbocharged Revotron Petrol Engine (Power: 110PS, Torque: 170NM) is the one that powers Tiago and Tigor as well. For diesel, Tata has developed an all-new 1.5-litre Turbocharged Diesel engine that churns 110PS of power and 260NM of Torque. The Tata Nexon features three driving modes – Eco, City and Sport.

Strategic Pricing

The Tata Nexon is expected to be priced between Rs.7 lacs – Rs.10 lacs (Ex-Showroom) in India.

Tata Nexon – Impact on the SUV Segment

The Tata Nexon will be launched in the compact SUV segment, which is majorly dominated by the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza and Ford EcoSport. Other rivals in this segment include Mahindra & Mahindra KUV100, NuvoSport, TUV300 and Honda WR-V. However, the direct competitors will be Brezza and EcoSport only.

It is a well-known fact that both Maruti Suzuki Brezza and Ford EcoSport are selling in good numbers every month. In fact, the Brezza lovers still have a long waiting list to buy their car. The Maruti Suzuki Brezza is a complete SUV package that has a lot to offer at an attractive price tag. And when it comes to brand reliability and trust, no automaker can match the level of Maruti Suzuki. This is where; the Tata Nexon is going to face the competitive heat.

And talking about the EcoSport, this compact SUV from Ford has offered a close competition to the Brezza. However, it remained number two in the segment. With time, the Ford EcoSport has found its own list of lovers.

Where Tata Nexon stands in the competition?

What favors Tata Nexon is its amazing style, bold & dynamic design and an appealing look, which is futuristic and brilliant. This is where, the Maruti Brezza and Ford EcoSport misses out. If you look at all these three SUVs at once, we are sure that the Tata Nexon will attract you the most as it is fresh, while the others look old. In fact, Ford EcoSport looks outdated now.

Another area where the Tata Nexon beats the Maruti Brezza is the availability of petrol engine variant. The Brezza is available with only diesel engine option, while both Nexon and EcoSport are available with petrol & diesel engine variants.

Lastly, the expected price tag of Tata Nexon lies between Rs.7-10 lacs. Some reports even claim it to start at Rs.6.5 lacs. At this price tag, both Brezza and EcoSport are going to have a very tough time competing with the Tata Nexon.

Tata Motors has left no stone unturned to capture a good share in the compact SUV segment with its upcoming Tata Nexon SUV. The Tata Nexon launch will tell us the official pricing and Tata’s next strategies to build a strong path for their success in the compact SUV segment.
